To access the course leading to this award the learner should have reached the standards of knowledge, skill and competence associated with the preceding level of this award where one exists. This may have been achieved through a formal qualification or through relevant life and work experience. Learners who have achieved the QQI /FETAC Level 6 Specific Purpose Certificate in Manual Handling Instruction may access programmes leading to this award.
The Patient Moving & Handling training course can be completed in a day and is run in conjunction with our Manual Handling Course. It covers a range of topics in order to give the learner confidence to risk assess Patient Moving & Manual Handling tasks and perform said tasks within their workplace.
The course requires 3 days complete, including skills practice and assessment. While the main content of the course is general, each course is different in terms of learners, circumstance and requirements. There is an assessment with this course for certification.

All assessments are carried out in accordance with QQI / FETAC requirements and are both internally and externally authenticated before certification is issued. All participants have the right to appeal their results, the appeals procedure is also in accordance with QQI / FETAC Regulation. The examination is conducted by an independent instructor.
All successful candidates in the written and practical exams will be awarded a FETAC/QQI level 6 certificate.
