Pre-Hospital Emergency Care Council: Cardiac First Response - Instructor
The Cardiac First Responder Instructor Training Course is conducted over two days. A pre requisite for entry onto a CFR-Instructor course is that an individual has certified at provider level within the last 12 months. The level of provider certification (Community or Advanced) will dictate the level at which they may apply for instructor training. You must next successfully complete a CFR instructor course and three monitoring sessions to become an Instructor. This qualification is certified by the Pre-Hospital Emergency Care Council (PHECC).

The minimum age to become a CFR Instructor is 18.

Cardiac First Response
Instructor Course

Following the two-day training, candidates must complete three CFR courses ~ 1st as an Assistant Instructor, 2nd as Lead Instructor with supervising Instructor present, 3rd as a sole Instructor being assessed. On of successful completion, candidates qualify as an Instructor with PHECC. All of these sessions are included in the Instructor course training we provide.

Total Course Included:

  • Cardiac First Response Provider Course if needed before Instructor Training (IM)
  • Two Day Instructional Methods (IM) Course
  • Three Monitoring Sessions for CFR
  • PHECC Instructor Manual
  • PHECC Provider Manual
  • PHECC DVD

The three Monitoring Sessions required after the Instructional Methods is included and can be done extremely quickly if required as we have several provider courses running during both weekdays and weekends. Monitoring must be done within 90 days of completing the Instructional Methods (IM) Course and can be done with Safety Ireland.  Additional mentoring is also available if you feel you require more support before  teaching on your own and this is free of charge.

In the classroom, students participate in simulated teaching scenarios and learning stations. Students work with an Pre-Hospital Emergency Care Council  Instructor to complete skills practice.. Students also complete a multiple choice questions (MCQ).

Course Format:

The course requires 2 days to complete, additionally you must attend three Cardiac First Response Courses after your initial training.

Cardiac First Response Instructor Pre-Hospital Emergency Care Council Course is valid for two years.
Participants will receive a PHECC provider course certificate and card.

As a CFR Instructor you have the following options for delivering your own training:

  • Join an existing Recognised Institution as a member of their faculty
  • Apply to PHECC for recognition of institution and seek course approval for CFR

Booking For Groups/Companies:
Just contact us and we will arrange an Instructor for your own location. All we need is a room suitable for the group size. This course is also available for bookings on weekends. This course can also be run for your group at our training centre in Terenure, Dublin. This course can be tailored for your group/company own needs.

This course is available as an open course for individuals to join, just call us or join our email list for updates of new courses and check our schedule page for details of our next open course.

Places on the course are provided on a first come basis. If a course is full additional courses may be scheduled if there is adequate demand. Safety Ireland will at all times ensure equality in our service provision. We therefore ask any learner that has specific learning requirements to contact our office on 01-44 22 999 or at the time of booking the training and we will ensure that all possible measures are taken to meet requirements. English is the language that the training is provided in and participants must have a good understanding of the English language.  If participants prefer they are welcome to bring along an interpreter; however prior notice must be given to Safety Ireland First Response.
