Safety Ireland: Ambulance Skills Training Course
Safety Ireland First Response are delighted to offer this unique course on our fully equipped Ford Wilker Ambulance. This course is open to all those who hold a current Occupational First Aid certificate or above, or Occupational First Aid Instructor certificate and is designed to enhance existing knowledge and to provide new skills in emergency care.

This introduction to the Ambulance Service in Ireland including AHA / IHF Health Care Provider course and advanced patient assessment. This training will be mainly practical & hands on, using equipment such as BVM’s, oxygen therapy, blood pressure monitoring, spinal immobilisation, splinting, and KED.

Ambulance Skills Course

This course is open to all those who hold a current Occupational First Aid certificate or above, or Occupational First Aid Instructors. The course is designed to enhance existing knowledge and to provide new skills in emergency care. The course includes scenario based ambulance transfers in and out of the ambulance, including the use of a stretcher, carrying chair, and the operation of tail lift.

Any person interested in a career in the Ambulance Service whether its private, public or voluntary will find this programme invaluable. This course would also be beneficial to instructors or individuals looking for an insight to the workings of an emergency ambulance here in Ireland and advancing their skill and knowledge base.

This is a 2 day course with a Certificate of Attendance issued on completion. The start time is 9:00am and finish time is 5:00pm. All those attending will need to be in good health and we recommend you wear comfortable clothing and shoes as there will be a lot of practical skills performed over the course duration. Some practical elements of the course will be conducted outdoors, so we would suggest wearing warm clothing for typical Irish temperatures!!

In the classroom, and with an ambulance students participate in simulated scenarios. Students work with an Instructor to complete skills practice.

Course Format:

The course requires 2 Days to complete, including skills practice. While the main content of the course is general, each course is different in terms of learners, circumstance and requirements.

There is no minimum age requirement set out in the current Education & Training Standards, however an individual should be mature enough to comprehend the knowledge, skills and implications associated with defibrillation and have a maturity to complete assessment to receive certification. Currently PHECC recognised institutions use 16 years of age as a benchmark.

Booking For Groups/Companies:
Just contact us and we will arrange an Instructor for your own location. All we need is a room suitable for the group size. This course is also available for bookings on weekends. This course can also be run for your group at our training centre in Terenure, Dublin. This course can be tailored for your group/company own needs.

Places on the course are provided on a first come basis. If a course is full additional courses may be scheduled if there is adequate demand. Safety Ireland will at all times ensure equality in our service provision. We therefore ask any learner that has specific learning requirements to contact our office on 01-44 22 999 or at the time of booking the training and we will ensure that all possible measures are taken to meet requirements. English is the language that the training is provided in and participants must have a good understanding of the English language.  If participants prefer they are welcome to bring along an interpreter; however prior notice must be given to Safety Ireland First Response.
